There are certain weddings that stay with you long after the last bobby pin is placed and the final touch-up is complete. I was honored to be part of a beautiful celebration recently featured in Washingtonian Weddings, and seeing the finished gallery reminded me why I love being part of such meaningful moments.
The couple created a wedding that felt deeply personal while beautifully honoring family traditions. Inspired by the bride's South Asian heritage, the ceremony incorporated elements of Hindu tradition in a way that felt intentional, welcoming, and uniquely their own. The result was a celebration that balanced culture, elegance, and modern style effortlessly.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the National Arboretum, the wedding embraced the couple's love of nature and the outdoors. Rich shades of green accented with vibrant orange, red, and purple details created a design that felt fresh, joyful, and full of life while complementing the surrounding landscape.
One of the most memorable details was the reception design. Rather than traditional assigned seating, guests were invited to gather around a mix of high-top tables, lounge areas, and open seating arrangements. The layout encouraged conversation, connection, and celebration, creating an atmosphere that felt both elevated and relaxed. It was a beautiful reminder that weddings can be sophisticated without feeling overly formal.
The couple also embraced unique touches throughout the evening that reflected their personalities. Guests enjoyed top-shelf Scotch in place of signature cocktails, and instead of a traditional wedding cake, ice cream sandwiches were passed around the dance floor - an unexpected detail that perfectly captured the fun, laid-back energy of the celebration.
As a bridal hairstylist, my role was to help create a look that felt timeless, elegant, and authentic to the bride. My goal is always the same: to ensure every bride feels confident, beautiful, and completely herself when she steps into one of the most important days of her life.
Seeing this wedding featured in Washingtonian Weddings was an incredible honor and a reminder of how many talented professionals come together to create a seamless wedding day experience.
